If a CNN/SI report is accurate, Mike Tyson will get a chance to even things up with James "Buster" Douglas.
The cable TV network reported Wednesday that Tyson will return the ring Oct. 2 against Douglas at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. There was no word of an official announcement from either of the fighter's camps or from the MGM.
Tyson's promoter Dan Goossen indicated last week that Tyson probably would select his next opponent from a pool of three fighters -- Douglas, journeyman Orlin Norris or Zelko Mavrovic, an obscure European.
Douglas, 38, shocked the boxing world by knocking out the previously undefeated Tyson in Tokyo back in 1990. Douglas lost the title to Evander Holyfield the next time out and then retired from boxing for six years.
His comeback was dealt a severe blow last June when he was knocked out in one round by lightly regarded Lou Savarese.
Because of his advanced age, Douglas would have to undergo an extensive medical examination before he is cleared to fight in Las Vegas.
