DETROIT -- Two 17-year-olds were caught drinking alcohol and playing roulette at MGM Grand Inc.'s new Detroit casino, exposing the Las Vegas company to a hefty fine, police said.
The youths were caught Saturday by a state police detective assigned to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. They were turned over to the adults they were traveling with and the group was ejected from the casino, Michigan State Police Lt. Morris Brown told the Detroit News.
Nancy Ziolkowski, vice president of marketing for MGM Grand in Detroit, declined comment, the News said.
The News said the teenagers face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $10,000. MGM faces penalties that could include a fine of up to a day's worth of revenue. Michigan's legal gambling age is 21.
