Director named at EPA lab

An Ohio State University professor has been named as the new director of the Environmental Protection Agency's Las Vegas laboratory.
John G. Lyon, an Ohio State professor of civil engineering and a visiting scientist at the EPA's national exposure research laboratory in Las Vegas, was named director last week.
The laboratory conducts research, development and technology transfer programs on environmental exposures to ecological and human resources.
Lyon had been on the staff at Ohio State since 1981. He has also been a visiting civil engineer with the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Detroit district; a research associate and Marine extension specialist at the University of Michigan and a reseach associate with the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif.
Lyon is an alumnus of Reed College in Portland, Ore. and he received a master's degree in remote sensing and a doctorate in natural resources from the University of Michigan.
