Hung Cong Duong, 30, faces four counts of assault and one count of interference with a flight crew. Authorities have described Duong as a resident alien who lives in Tampa, Fla.
Las Vegas police arrested Duong about 1:30 a.m. July 24 after the emergency landing of Flight 194, which was traveling from Los Angeles to Atlanta, then turned him over to FBI agents.
An FBI spokesman said Duong became upset after a flight attendant refused to serve him a beverage before his turn.
According to Wednesday's indictment, Duong intentionally spilled hot coffee on a woman and her 17-month-old child. The indictment also accuses Duong of striking a 12-year-old girl in the head and shoulder and striking a woman numerous times in the head.
Duong has remained in custody since his arrest. His arraignment is scheduled for Aug. 13 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Lawrence Leavitt.
