Two casino openings may be delayed

DETROIT -- The MotorCity and Greektown casino openings in Detroit may be pushed back as much as two months because Michigan Gaming Board investigators need more time to examine their backgrounds, the Detroit Free Press reported.
MotorCity had hoped to open next month, but now may not be licensed until November. The Greektown Casino, which hopes to finish construction by October, now may not be licensed until January.
The delays are good news for MGM Grand Inc. of Las Vegas, which opened its temporary Detroit casino last week. Some 70,000 people visited the MGM Grand between Thursday afternoon and Sunday afternoon, the Free Press reported.
