LAS VEGAS - U.S. Rep. Shelley Berkley has raised nearly $500,000 since January despite the fact that the freshman Democrat has no major GOP opponent yet.
Doctors, lawyers and women have flocked to help Berkley. She has also received more than $80,000 from EMILY's List, a national fund-raising group designed to help elect Democratic women who support abortion rights.
State Sen. Jon Porter of Boulder City is a likely Republican challenger. He has not yet announced his candidacy but says he's seriously considering the race.
