Man claims he was duped in concert deal

A California man has accused a Las Vegas company and its representative of defrauding him of $100,000.
David Roberts' lawsuit named World One Communications and Marvin Adams of Las Vegas as defendants.
Adams allegedly solicited Roberts for a $100,000 loan, informing him that World One needed the money to co-promote an upcoming Whitney Houston concert. Adams allegedly promised Roberts a 40 percent return on his investment, with repayment within 14 business days.
Roberts said those funds were never used in the promotion of the concert and that neither the loan nor the promised return were ever paid.
Gary Robinson, business manager of World One, said the loan was extended as a 14-day bridge loan to help the company through a period of financial difficulty. He denied that Roberts was ever told the loan would be used to promote a Whitney Houston concert.
World One has subsequently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and is currently reorganizing, Robinson said. The company offered telephone service by resale, he said.
Roberts is seeking an injunction freezing World One's assets, as well as an investigation determining what the loan was used for.
