American Pacific Corp. of Las Vegas reported a profit for its third quarter of $2.2 million or 26 cents per share, up from $214,000 or 2 cents per share in the year-ago quarter.
Sales jumped from $13.1 million to $18.7 million.
American Pacific attributed the higher sales in part to its acquisition of the rocket fuel business of competitor Kerr-McGee Chemical Corp.
AP reported quarterly sales of perchlorate chemicals used for rocket fuel of $9.7 million, azide chemicals used for airbags of $3.7 million and fire suppression chemicals of $700,000.
The company also reported real estate and related sales of $3.7 million; and environmental protection products sales of $1 million.
