Letter: Don’t condemn tax cuts because rich benefit most
Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999 | 8:51 a.m.
I think that Zundel may be reading thoughts that were not in my mind. I never said that only the rich should benefit.
I am greatly in favor of making life better for lower-income people, and even the middle-income people of this country.
While taxes may not be an unsupportable burden for the rich, they pay a huge portion of the total taxes that are collected.
I just don't think that we should condemn a tax-reduction plan because the wealthy part of the population would benefit most.
Finally, to refer to a tax cut as a "tax subsidy" is a joke.
It's like calling the fact that you may read this copy of the Sun that you bought "an added bonus" of ownership.
