Construction damages water pipe, causes small flood

Tuesday, Aug. 3, 1999 | 9:46 a.m.

The break at Plumas Street and Urban Road sent water across South Virginia Street, Moana Lane and Lakeside Drive.

Three hours after Monday afternoon's incident, water was still pouring through backyards, front lawns and the down streets.

Homemade dams were erected from cinder blocks, garbage cans and anything else residents could think of to divert the flow from their homes, which turned into instant islands.

About 200 customers were expected to get their water service back on Tuesday.
