LV’s Adler wins U.S. Open

Bowler Kim Adler of Las Vegas captured the BPAA U.S. Open Sunday at Uncasville, Conn.
Adler won the third major pro title and 11th overall of her career and took home $35,000 for her victory at the Mohegan-Sun casino-resort.
Adler defeated Australian Cara Honeychurch 224-214 in the semifinals and Lynda Barnes of Wichita, Kan., 213-195 in the championship match. Barnes won $20,000, Honeychurch $15,000.
The Las Vegan had two open frames against Barnes in the final, but rallied with three consecutive strikes in the 10th frame to capture the championship.
Wendy Macpherson of Henderson finished in the top 15.
Top-seeded Bob Learn Jr. of Erie, Pa., won the men's title by defeating Jason Couch of Clermont, Fla., 231-215. Dave Arnold of Gilbert, Ariz., finished third.
