StumbleUNLV women’s tennis team tops Air Force

UNLV swept doubles play en route to a 7-2 win over Air Force in the first round of the consolation draw of the 1999 WAC Women's Tennis Championship Thursday in Albuquerque, N.M.
The Rebels won four of six singles matches and then clinched things by taking all three doubles points.
Winning for UNLV in singles were Katarina Malec, Veronica Goude, Susie Kocsis and Marcella Valkenhoff. In doubles, Kocsis teamed with Valkenhoff for a win, Marianne Bakken joined Goude for a victory and Britta Gabl and Malec won a 9-8 tiebreaker to pull off the sweep.
