City Councilman Arnie Adamsen has unloaded another late barrage against Las Vegas mayoral front-runner Oscar Goodman -- this one alleging the criminal defense attorney is a threat to children's safety.
In a campaign flier set to arrive in registered voters' mailboxes today -- Adamsen claims Goodman is against Megan's Law that mandates authorities notify neighbors when a convicted sexual offender moves into the community.
Adamsen's flier features a cover with four photos of smiling children and the warning: "Their safety is in your hands."
Inside, the text claims, "There are monsters among us" and quotes Goodman from one of his past appearances on KVBC Channel 3's "Closing Arguments" program.
"Do you realize how tough it is for somebody who's getting out of prison to get back in society and become a productive citizen? ... Let them become a part of the community. Don't brand them," the flier quotes Goodman as saying.
Goodman said Adamsen's use of the television footage is negative and misleading.
"That is a point, counterpoint show," Goodman said. "I went on the air to present the opposing view for entertainment purposes."
Goodman said he supports Megan's Law.
