Letter: Be considerate of nonsmokers in public areas
Thursday, April 29, 1999 | 1:04 a.m.
I have a big problem with going to a restaurant and smelling the stench of cigarettes the minute I walk in the door. It makes me laugh when the hostess asks if I would like to sit in the smoking or nonsmoking section, when I can clearly smell the smoke while sitting in the nonsmoking section.
Second-hand smoke is bad for people's lungs, so why should I suffer the chance of cancer when I don't even smoke? There is a time and place for everything, so I feel if they want to smoke, do it away from me. They should have some consideration for nonsmokers.
