St. Jude's Ranch for Children wants to warn consumers that donations and magazine sales are being solicited by unauthorized agents in the name of the ranch.
Management for the ranch, which serves as a home for abused, neglected and homeless children, has learned that someone is selling subscriptions of "Jack and Jill" magazine for the ranch.
"We started receiving multiple copies of 'Jack and Jill,' and when we investigated we learned our supporters were being solicited to buy subscriptions for the children," St. Jude's operations manager Lou Schlotter said. "We understand that some people were also solicited for donations."
With all the added subscriptions, the ranch is receiving 180 copies of the magazine each month, while housing only 50 children.
