LV bank results mixed

Several banks operating in Nevada reported mixed quarterly earnings.
U.S. Bancorp, Minneapolis, earned $366.8 million or 50 cents per share, up from $328.5 million or 44 cents.
First Security Corp., Salt Lake City, owner of First Security Bank, reported record net income of $64.9 million, up 5.7 percent from the year-ago quarter. Earnings per share of 34 cents were up 2 cents.
Comstock Bancorp of Reno, which is being acquired by First Security, said profits of $486,000 or 10 cents per share fell from $601,000 or 12 cents earned in the year-ago quarter.
Zions Bancorporation, Salt Lake City, owner of Nevada State Bank, said it earned $48.9 million or 61 cents per share vs. $39 million or 52 cents in last year's quarter.
Pioneer Bancorporation of Reno, owner of Pioneer Citizens Bank, said it earned $3.2 million or 34 cents per share, up from $3 million or 32 cents per share.
Silver State Bank of Henderson earned $267,000 or 21 cents per share, up from $73,000 or 8 cents.
Colonial BancGroup, Montgomery, Ala., said it earned $28.1 million or 25 cents per share, up from $20.1 million or 18 cents.
