Alliance unit forms venture

Oasis owns unique patented technology for the electronic scratch-off systems required by gaming regulators in the two states.
Under the agreement, the partners will jointly develop gaming devices that deploy the Oasis technology in a Bally Gaming device.
Oasis Technologies will provide the gaming system and a continuing series of games to deploy in the gaming devices. Bally Gaming will make and distribute the games, gaming devices and the system, all of which need regulatory approval that is anticipated shortly, Alliance said.
And, in a statement that is becoming increasingly common as game makers seek protection for proprietary creative products, Alliance said Bally and Oasis "intend to vigorously enforce the patent rights in these markets."
Game makers such as Anchor Gaming, International Game Technology and others have filed several patent-infringement lawsuits in recent months.
Las Vegas-based Alliance Gaming designs, makes and distributes advanced gaming devices and systems, is the nation's largest slot-route operator and runs two regional casinos. Oasis is a software development company with headquarters in Omaha, Neb., providing gaming solutions for lottery and new casino markets.
