Developers accused of defective construction

Wednesday, April 21, 1999 | 10:09 a.m.

Picerne Construction Corp., a Phoenix company with an office in Las Vegas, Aoki Construction and Bodysonic of America Inc. were named in a suit filed by the Elan Condominium Homeowners Association.

The suit says the condominiums, located at Alta and Buffalo drives, have numerous construction defects including improper waterproofing, stucco cracks, plumbing problems, drywall cracking, erosion and other damage.

The suit says the defendants offered to negotiate a settlement with the homeowners, but did not offer enough money to cover the cost of the damage. They also rejected mediation, the suit says.

Representatives of Picerne, Aoki and Bodysonic could not be reached for comment.

In a different suit, the Robert V. Jones Corp. was named in a suit filed by the Rancho Sierra Homeowners Association Inc.

The suit says building leaks damaged framing, drywall, paint and carpets. The suit says there were defects in roof diaphragms, framing, walls, foundation systems and chimneys.

The complex is at Rancho Drive and Lake Mead Boulevard.

A spokesman for Robert V. Jones Corp. could not be reached for comment.
