Casino sues ex-employee over horses

Wednesday, April 21, 1999 | 11:26 a.m.

Horseshoe Club Operating Co. and Behnen sued Scott Smith, of Aledo, Texas, in Clark County District Court. According to the suit, Smith traveled around the country with a team of six horses, stagecoaches and related equipment that were used to market the Horseshoe at rodeos and western shows.

Smith was terminated from the Horseshoe on Jan. 3, the suit said. On Jan. 28, Horseshoe officials retrieved a tractor trailer and one stagecoach from a farm in Aledo. But the Horseshoe alleges Smith is still in possession of the horses, a horse trailer, a leather harness and other equipment.

The horses were owned by the late Teddy Janey Binion and bequeathed to her daughter, Behnen, states the suit.

The Horseshoe wants the equipment back and unspecified damages.

Smith could not be reached for comment.
