Letter: Commissioners are blind when it comes to airport
Tuesday, April 20, 1999 | 11:27 a.m.
They didn't look at Denver and see that its old and outdated airport had to be replaced, and that the sooner done the cheaper and better it would be for the city.
Our county commissioners didn't notice that we need six to eight runways east to west just to keep up with the flow. They don't care about the noise or the increased burden of the changing flight patterns to keep up with the number of planes coming in for the oh-too-few runways.
They only care about how pretty the airport is and how many shops they can get for their friends in the airport. They're not worried about the people living within 10 miles of the airport.
They know they will receive enough money from the hotels to snowball all the new residents on what a wonderful job they've done while having their heads in the sand.
