Four Las Vegans finish marathon

Seven Las Vegans ran the 103rd Boston Marathon on Monday.

Ira Zimmerman finished the prestigious race most quickly among local men, turning in a time of 3 hours, 7 minutes, 41 seconds. At 52 years old, Zimmerman finished less than a minute outside the top 25 in the veteran age category.

Phil MacWilliams, 28 years Zimmerman's junior, crossed the line four seconds later.

William Hutton, 43, finished in 3:27:07.

Fifty-year-old Elva Hernandez was listed as the only Las Vegas woman in the race. She ran the course in 4:27:11.

According to the marathon's official web site, the other three locals -- John Farrell, Dan Kempf, Gary Skankey -- did not finish.

A total of 17 Nevadans competed. Carson City's Jeff Carlton paced his statesmen with a time of 3:04:52.
