Enterprise’s future to be taken up at meetings
Tuesday, April 20, 1999 | 12:05 p.m.
Local officials want to hear what residents think about a joint land-use plan between Clark County and Henderson in Enterprise Township.
They've scheduled the first of three meetings to hear those comments 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Cartwright Elementary School, 1050 E. Gary Ave. Subsequent meetings have been scheduled for May 11 and May 25.
Many homeowners in Enterprise have said they live in the last rural bastion of the Las Vegas Valley and they would like to see it stay that way.
They are concerned that the interlocal agreement approved in January by the county and Henderson will affect their quality of life.
The agreement came after the residents loudly protested a plan by Henderson to annex about 1,400 acres within the township. The city agreed to drop several heavily populated sections north of Lake Mead Drive when it makes its annexation move as part of the pact, which pledges that county and Henderson planners will work together to develop the area.
Wednesday's meeting, along with the subsequent meetings, is intended to make good on that pledge.
Following the agreement, the city received the county's blessing to attempt to annex about 6,000 acres primarily south of Lake Mead Drive, including acreage in the Bureau of Land Management Disposal Area.
The proposed annexation area goes as far north as Silverado Ranch, no farther west than Las Vegas Boulevard South, no farther east than Eastern Avenue and as far south as the BLM Disposal Area.
