Plans to re-open Virginia Hotel-casino

The Club Cal-Neva is leasing the shuttered Virginian Hotel-Casino and plans to re-open it.
"It's a small hotel, but it's a big step for downtown Reno to re-open something," Cal-Neva President Phil Bryan said.
Bryan hopes to close the deal by May 3 and to re-open the hotel and restaurants by Memorial Day. The re-opening of the casino will depend on how long it takes to Nevada gambling regulators to act.
When the Virginian went dark in July 1997, it became one of six downtown Reno casinos to close between March 1995 and last November.
