Wednesday, April 14, 1999 | 11:18 a.m.
Hotel Reservation Network, which offers reservations to more than 600 hotels in 34 cities worldwide, including Las Vegas, was bought by the diversified media and electronic commerce company.
Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
HRN's Internet booking service has been available since 1995 and its call center is open 24 hours every day. Bob Diener, president of the company, said Las Vegas represents about 20 percent of HRN's business and the company books about 300,000 room nights in Las Vegas a year.
USA Networks sees HRN as another component in its entertainment package. The company operates USA Network, the SciFi Channel, Studios USA, Home Shopping Network and Ticketmaster.
The transaction is expected to close by June.
