NLV: Cop’s hearing against city pushed back
Wednesday, April 14, 1999 | 11:05 a.m.
North Las Vegas Police Officer John Armstrong may get his day in court, but not today.
District Court Judge Gary Redmon was scheduled to hear Armstrong's request for a preliminary injunction against the city, following the judge's denial earlier this month of the officer's request to issue a temporary restraining order.
The hearing was continued to May 3. Neither Armstrong nor his attorney, Victor Perri, could be reached for comment this morning.
Armstrong was relieved of duty Nov. 12, 1998, following a sexual harassment claim by a fellow officer. He has said the restraining order would have prevented the city from investigating the charges -- allegations he claims the city has already found him guilty of without following proper procedure.
City Manager Pat Importuna denies Armstrong's allegations but would not comment further.
