Rock slide shuts down Kingsbury Grade
Monday, April 12, 1999 | 5 a.m.
There were no reports of any injuries in the slide, which occurred in an uninhabited area. The Douglas County sheriff's office estimated its size at about 30 feet high and 60 feet wide.
The slide occurred about one mile up from the valley floor when snow, rocks and boulders let go shortly after 2 p.m.
Sheriff's spokesman Lance Modispacher said it was not known how long it would take to clear the mess. South shore casinos were asked to advise their customers and employees not to try to take Kingsbury Grade home.
U.S. 50 also links the lake with the valley, although not as directly.
