Nevada economic index declines

Jeff Thredgold, the Salt Lake City economist who produces the index, said it fell because of slowing job growth and slowing in-migration of new residents from California.
The index also is negatively affected by the state's low unemployment rate of 3.5 percent, which makes it hard for small businesses to find and hire employees.
