Lawsuit filed against Fallon police
Monday, April 12, 1999 | 5:01 a.m.
Eight-year veteran Lorrie Ellifritz, who is the department's only female officer, and former dispatcher Susan Whitney claim they were sexually harassed and subjected to a hostile work environment.
Ellifritz claims her job performance was scrutinized and her intelligence was insulted because she is a woman.
Whitney, who left the force last year, alleges that she was sexually harassed after breaking off a relationship with a former sergeant in November 1997.
The chief said he has not seen the suit and cannot comment on it, but adds that he said in September that an internal investigation turned up no evidence of harassment by the sergeant. But he says they both would have been fired if they hadn't resigned.
