Five members of the Nevada Air National Guard have been ordered to assist with intelligence-gathering operations stemming from the conflict in Kosovo, the Nevada Office of the Military in Carson City said.
Four of the members of the 152nd Intelligence Squadron have been deployed to the 13th Intelligence Squadron at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., which is supporting combat operations on the Balkan peninsula.
The Guard members, all residents of Northern Nevada, will help with the analysis of reconnaissance photos and battle-damage assessment, Nevada Air National Guard spokeswoman Maj. Cindy Kirkland said.
A fifth Guard member, also a Northern Nevadan, will assist with humanitarian airlift efforts and will be assigned to a NATO command center, possibly in Italy, Kirkland said.
None of the names of the deployed Guard members were released.
Two Nevada Guard members who already were stationed at the 32nd Air Intelligence Squadron at Ramstein Air Base in Germany recently were reassigned to support the "Operation Sustain Hope" humanitarian mission in the Balkans, Kirkland said.
