County briefs

The Clark County Public Works Department removed the Harmon Avenue-Las Vegas Boulevard project from Tuesday's agenda because the details of a tentative agreement still must be worked out.
Public Works officials said last week that casino owners near the proposed intersection had agreed in concept to the design.
Staff members were expected to recommend the county extend Harmon Avenue diagonally across the Strip and then west across Interstate 15. Leaving Harmon Avenue a surface road was a departure from the county's original plans, which called for tunnels that dipped beneath Las Vegas Boulevard.
Shafer steps down as public guardian
Clark County commissioners accepted the resignation of Public Guardian Jared Shafer on Tuesday and appointed Assistant Public Administrator Judy Johnston as his replacement.
Johnston will continue to act as assistant public administrator.
Commissioners approved a raise of $1,000 for the remainder of this quarter and $4,264 for fiscal year 1999-2000.
