UNLV will host its fourth annual plant sale 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the UNLV soccer practice field, near the corner of Flamingo Road and Swenson Street.
The focus of this year's sale will be on plants that are considered water efficient and suitable for use in the high desert. Call 895-3392.
Audubon Society plans field trip Saturday
The Red Rock Audubon Society is offering a field trip to the New China Ranch and Tecopa Springs 6 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday.
Meet at the Jack-in the-Box, 3680 Blue Diamond Road. Bring lunch and water. The group will look for yellow-billed cuckoos and other birds. Call 451-6843 for reservations.
Apply now for spots in Heritage Days contest
Applications are currently being accepted for the 1999 Henderson Heritage Days talent contest to be held 7 p.m. April 22 at Burkholder Middle School, 355 W. Van Wagenen St.
Deadline for applications is Monday. Applications are available at the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, 590 S. Boulder Highway. Call 565-8951.
Blind Center planning its spring yard sale
The Las Vegas Blind Center will hold its spring fund-raising yard sale 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at 1001 N. Bruce St. at Washington Avenue.
Items include sport, work and dress clothing for men and women as well as baby and children's clothing, restaurant size supplies, pots, pans, dishes, glasses, cups, furniture, appliances, sports equipment, jewelry, books, shoes, toys etc. Call 642-6000.
Annual rummage sale this weekend
The sixth annual Junior League Ritzy Rummage Sale begins Friday with a preview party 6-9 p.m. at Cashman Center.
Admission at the Friday preview is $10 and all prices will be doubled. The doors for the regular sale will be open 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and admission is $2. Call 822-6536.
Class, auction to help send kids to burn camp
Area fire departments and the Las Vegas Sporting House are hosting a firefighter conditioning training class and firefighter auction 1 p.m. Saturday. The event will raise money to send area children who have been badly burned to burn camp this summer.
Costs are $8 for the class and a T-shirt, $16 for the class, a T-shirt and a certificate of completion and $25 for the class, a T-shirt, a certificate of completion and admission to the firefighter auction.
Local firefighters will be able to purchase an exclusive T-shirt for $25.
The firefighter conditioning class is a cross between boot camp and childhood games. Contact Angie Wright at 733-8999.

The annual Arabian and Half-Arabian Horse Show will be held from 8 a.m. to early evening Friday through Sunday at Horseman's Park, 5800 E. Flamingo Road, main arena. Admission is free. Call 658-8643 or 645-1554.
The third annual Wag-a-Tail Walk-a-Thon, a 2-mile fun walk presented by the Las Vegas Valley Humane Society, will begin 9 a.m. Sunday, with registration at 8 a.m., at Hills Park in Summerlin. Cost is $20 for walkers with dogs. Call 648-5175.
