Editorial: Constitutional change would alienate voters

It is questionable whether SJR17 would, as Schneider believes, decrease the amount of time legislators spend raising money for campaigns. What is certain is that if Schneider's proposal were to become reality, elected officials would be less accountable to the voters. Frequent elections ensure that elected officials don't lose touch with their constituents. Nevadans expect their representatives to be responsive, not aloof. The Legislature should reject this misguided legislation.
