Henry said Thursday he will not seek re-election at next month's meeting of the party's central committee and will instead dedicate his time to an unspecified position in Gore's Nevada campaign.
"I plan to dedicate my time for the next two years to helping (Gore) win the presidency," Henry said. "I have been contacted by his campaign team and plan on playing a prominent role in his efforts to win here in Nevada."
Henry, 35, has been Democratic state chairman since 1996.
