Economic Opportunity Board of Clark County is seeking full- and part-time volunteers to fill positions for a sewing class instructor, ceramic class instructor and fitness leader for its new Senior Center at 2420 N. Martin Luther Blvd. Building B.
The nonprofit community center offers free educational and social activities. Center hours are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information, call 647-2536.
Church, school raise money for new van
Opportunity Village will use funds raised by parishioners and students from Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church and School to buy a needed van for the organization.
A total of $16,000 was raised from weekly donations to the church's poor boxes and through a "penny war" held at the school.
Used book sale scheduled at market
Soroptimist International of Greater Las Vegas will hold its semi-annual used book sale from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday outside Vons supermarket, 4810 W. Sahara Ave., in the Sahara Pavilion at the corner of Sahara and Decatur Boulevard.
Soroptimist is a worldwide classified service organization for executive women in business and professions with more than 100,000 members in 100 countries. Call 362-7666.
