The man, whose name has not been released, was reported to be a master jumper, with more than 300 jumps.
He apparently was unable to get his parachute open after jumping from 12,500 feet Saturday, said a representative of Skydive Las Vegas. Officials have speculated that the man may not have been able to reach the ripcord on his parachute.
Victor Pappadato, a world-renowned cameraman and skydiver died in May, when he collided with another skydiver.
CASH INTERVIEW -- David Cash, a University of California at Berkeley sophomore who was outside a Primm casino restroom when his friend, Jeremy Strohmeyer, murdered a 7-year-old girl, was featured in a 60 Minutes interview Sunday.
Cash was questioned by Ed Bradley as to why he did not stop his friend from murdering Sherrice Iverson.
Cash told Bradley that if he thought Iverson was in danger he would have stopped Strohmeyer. He also said that Strohmeyer admitted to him that he had killed Iverson immediately following the incident.
As part of the interview, Cash went before a group of Berkeley students and explained to his classmates, some of whom have asked him to leave the school, that he felt there was nothing he could have done to prevent the murder.
FATAL SHOOTING -- Early Sunday morning Metro Police were called to the scene of a shooting at the corner of Ogden and Flower avenues.
At about 12:30 a.m. police arrived to find a 20-year-old male lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim died of his wounds at the scene, police said.
A large light-colored sedan and a yellow and brown van were seen leaving the area after the shooting, police said. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Metro Homicide at 229-3521.
FRAUDULENT E-MAIL -- The state attorney general's office is advising that Nevadans ignore a fraudulent e-mail address that is circulating on the Internet.
The e-mail, whose source is identified as Walt Disney Jr., claims that Disney and Microsoft are working to together on an e-mail tracing program and encourages people to forward the e-mail to everyone they know.
The message goes on to say that if it is forwarded to 13,000 people, then 1,300 of the people on the list will receive a $5,000 and the rest will receive a free trip for two to Disney World. Such an offer does not exist according to Disney.
TEST SITE PROTEST -- Five protesters were arrested on trespassing charges at the entrance of the Nevada Test Site on Saturday.
The protesters, part of a group of about 20, were against the subcritical nuclear experiment that the Department of Energy conducted below ground.
The test uses chemical explosives to generate pressure on nuclear weapon materials. The five protesters were taken into custody by the Nye County Sheriff's department, according to a Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman.
FARMER'S MARKET -- The Farmer's Market, which features local and organic produce, is coming back to town.
The market, held at Sammy Davis Jr. Festival Plaza in Lorenzi Park off Washington Avenue between Valley View and Rancho drives, will operate from 7 a.m. to noon each Saturday until Christmas.
In addition to a pancake breakfast, homemade and handmade crafts, breads, jams, and honey, visitors can also sample wines, coffees and locally made apple juice.
Weekly entertainment ranging from blue grass to light jazz will be provided. Admission is free and open to the public.
FREE MEALS -- The city of Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture will serve free breakfast and lunch during October and September to children enrolled in year-round selected Las Vegas Leisure Services program sites.
The meals will be served in accordance with the Clark County School District Calendar to children up to 18 years old.
The breakfast meals will be served at 9 a.m., while lunch will be served at noon, Monday through Friday.
Participating sites are: Doolittle Community Center, 1950 N. "J" St., and Rafael Rivera Community Center, 2900 Stewart Ave.
