Big LV apartment owner says construction was defective

Olen Residential Realty Corp. sued Robert V. Jones Corp., alleging defective construction of eight big Las Vegas apartment complexes.
Eight suits were filed involving eight different properties built in the late 1980s that collectively have more than 2,500 units. The complexes are the Breakers, Players International, Diamondhead, Eagle Trace, Hidden Cove, Players Club, Desert Club and Indian Hills.
Robert V. Jones Corp.'s attorney was out of town and unavailable for comment. Lawyers for Olen Residential Realty declined comment when asked to elaborate on the allegations.
"The project is defective in design, construction, and manufacture, unfit and unsafe for its intended purpose," the complaints read. They further allege the apartments create "unhealthy and unsafe conditions."
The suits also name unidentified designers, suppliers and subcontractors as defendants.
Olen claims it will suffer damages such as lost use of the grounds, costs of repairs, lost or diminished rents and relocation costs due to faulty construction.
However, the suits are less than specific about the alleged defects. Generally, Olen charges items faulty include streets, grading, fences, foundation components, floors and ceilings, garages, chimneys, walkways and heating-cooling systems.
Olen seeks unspecified damages in the suits.
