For the little ones -- Children's recording star Joe Scruggs will make his Las Vegas debut in a concert Saturday at the Clark County Government Center Amphitheater, 500 S. Grand Central Parkway. Local radio talk show personality Sam Greenfield will entertain, along with acrobats, mimes and jugglers, before the concert. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. for the 6 p.m. show. Cool tunes -- Bring a picnic basket and enjoy an afternoon of reggae and Caribbean music at 11 a.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Arts Amphitheater, 947 West Lake Mead Blvd. The Rohn Shead Project and Caribbean Delight with Rupert Henry will perform. Admission is free.

Afternoon delight -- The Las Vegas Woodwind Quintet performs at 2 p.m. Sunday ay the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, 821 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Call 229-6211 for details.

Dance

Swing out -- Dance to the song stylings of Jakki Ford, backed by a 17 -piece big band orchestra, 7 p.m. Saturday at the Charleston Heights Arts Center Ballroom, 800 S. Brush St. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the door.

Theatre

Classics revisited -- "Some Enchanted Evening," a musical revue featuring the works of Rogers and Hammerstein, is the season opener for Actors Repertory Theatre at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Summerlin Library Theatre. Songs from "South Pacific," "Carousel," and "The King and I" will be performed. Tickets are $15-22.50 and may be reserved by calling 647-7469. Performances continue Sept. 16-20.

New Season -- "Jest a Second," the first show of the season for Off Broadway Theater, begins today and runs through Oct. 4 at 900 E. Karen Ave. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $12 general admission; $10 for seniors, students and all matinees. Call 737-0611 for additional information.

Doesn't get any better -- "Broadway Sings the Best of the Best," a new musical revue produced by Nevada Theatre Arts Company, features such songs as "The Impossible Dream," "Makin' Whoppie" and "Hello Dolly." Tickets for 7:30 p.m. performances today and Saturday, and Sept. 18 and 19, at the Winchester Community Center, are $10 general admission, $8 for seniors and students. Call 455-7340 for details.

History Lesson -- The seventh annual Living History program -- a series of talks and demonstrations about the pioneer settlement of Southern Nevada from the early 1800s to the turn of the century -- will be presented at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park beginning Saturday from 1-3 p.m. with "Mountain Men." The "Olive Lake" program is Sunday at noon and 2 p.m. Call 875-4141 for more information about the programs, which run through November.

Crafts for the masses -- The Crafter's Village crafts and fine arts festival sets up shop at Cashman Field Exhibit Hall today, Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $5 for adults; $4 for military and seniors; $2 for children ages 6-18.
