Sparks City Council considers asking Legislature for room-tax increase
Friday, Sept. 4, 1998 | 9:53 a.m.
The city's room tax is 1 percent less than Reno's and Breslow said the increase to 9 percent would create parity with Reno and generate an additional $350,000 a year for Sparks.
If the request is approved by the city council at its Sept. 14 meeting, it would be part of a package the city will send to the Nevada State Legislature, the Daily Sparks Tribune reported.
Sparks City Manager Terry Reynolds said the council would have to consider sending the tax increase request and where the extra money it generates should go on Sept. 14.
