Letter: Animals belong in a sanctuary, not as vaudeville-type performer
Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998 | 10:11 a.m.
So, I, of course, welcomed PETA's recent attempt to, once again, stop this man. But I'd like to get the focus back where it should be -- on the orangutans themselves.
If Berosini really cared about them, as he claims he does, he would let them go to a sanctuary. They don't belong in anyone's home, wearing aprons and diapers and little hats. They particularly don't belong on stage in some vaudeville act being made to look silly and ridiculous.
Animals don't belong to us. They belong to themselves. Please, Mr. Berosini, let these animals go to a sanctuary where they can live out the rest of their lives with some dignity and peace.
