The Reno layoffs include ticket agents and ground employees with the least seniority. A skeleton crew of seven people remain on the job at the company's booth in the Reno airport to process refunds for people whose flights have been canceled.
Northwest has canceled all flights through Labor Day. In Reno, that means 31 planes won't take off.
If the strike continues into next week, Northwest says two more Reno employees will be furloughed.
