Editorial: Get out and vote if you still haven’t
Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1998 | 9:54 a.m.
But if you did not -- or forgot to -- vote in today's primary election, there is still some time left to leave your mark on the democratic process. Polling places are open until 7 p.m.
It's been said thousands of times, but it is still just as important: Every vote counts. Every two years there is a race that is decided by a handful of votes, especially in state Assembly races, and often more than one.
In many elections, the winner in the general election is decided in the primary because the other party doesn't have a candidate contesting the race.
While it's easier to stay home and make sure you don't miss that "Seinfeld" rerun you've seen a thousand times, you could actually be out making a contribution to the sustained health of our democracy. Please take the time to vote.
