Fire crews are getting a handle on several lightning-sparked fires that have blackened more than 13,000 acres in northeastern Nevada.
The largest, the Black Mountain fire 20 miles northeast of Wells, is expected to be contained by Wednesday. Its size is put at 9,900 acres, down from the earlier estimate of 12,000 acres.
The Alpha fire 40 miles south of Carlin was expected to be fully contained on Tuesday at 2,200 acres.
The Dry Gulch II fire near the Idaho line is contained at 1,700 acres.
The fires all were triggered by lightning strikes on Sunday.
