SUN STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS
The Las Vegas Thunder hits the road for the first time this season with a pair of games in Kansas City. The Thunder plays the Blades tonight and Saturday night at 5:35 p.m. in a matchup between IHL's worst Western Conference teams.
Las Vegas failed to capitalize on the seven-game home stretch it had to start the season, going 2-4-1 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Thunder owns the worst record in the Southwest Division and the second-worst mark in the Western Conference. The Blades are 2-7-0.
This weekend will mark the first Thunder action for recently acquired Drew Bannister. The defenseman belongs to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks but has not played for them this season due to unresolved contract matters.
Bannister will help fill the void created by the temporary loss of captain Kevin Kaminski, who suffered broken facial bones in Friday's victory over Michigan. Kaminski could be out as long as two months. After Kansas City, Las Vegas will play three more road games -- Michigan, Fort Wayne, Cincinnati -- before returning to the T&M to host the Blades Nov. 11 and 13.
