The Cessna-182 was believed to have three people on board. It was feared to have crashed somewhere between the Sierra Nevada and Winnemucca, Nev.
The plane took off about 6 a.m. on Thursday from Grass Valley, Calif. It was flying near Pyramid Lake when it dropped off radar, Washoe County rescue officials said.
It was supposed to arrive in Winnemucca about 8 a.m. The Humboldt County Sheriff's office called out a search when it hadn't shown up by noon.
