Letter: In response to military criticism
Friday, Oct. 30, 1998 | 10:20 a.m.
He sounds like a bitter, old man, what happened? Could he not fit in with this wonderful group of people? We served in the military for more than 22 years and never met a person that sounds like him. He must have been in one of the bedrooms that he was so closely watching, looking to see which malcontent, racist, whoremonger misfits, etc., that he could find.
We are entitled to our opinion and the commander in chief is supposed to set an example for these young people. If his behavior is acceptable, let us reinstate Lt. Kelly Flynn with back pay and at least the rank of captain by now.
To blame the military for the likes of Tim McVeigh makes me laugh. It's the same old routine; blame everyone else for your madness except yourself.
Let me assure Olivier that people such as he will never muzzle any segment of this country, be it military or civilian, so get a life. I am proud of my country and will serve it any day, any time and anywhere.
Master Sgt. and Mrs. Lawrence W. Cox
