Brief: Southwest Gas loss narrows
Friday, Oct. 30, 1998 | 4:15 a.m.
Southwest Gas Corp. of Las Vegas reported a third quarter loss of $10.9 million, or 38 cents per share -- an improvement from the 58 cents per share or $15.7 million lost in the third quarter of 1997.
Net losses during the third quarter are normal due to the seasonal nature of the natural gas business.
Southwest attributed the improvements to $6 million in revenue gains from higher rates and to growth. It now serves 58,000, or 5 percent, more customers than a year ago. Southwest has some 1.2 million customers in Arizona, Nevada and California.
