Some are also selling toy guns.
Community activist Marzette Lewis said she found her 13-year-old son playing with a toy gun last week, and was surprised to learn he bought it from an ice cream vendor.
Vendors say they buy the guns from a supplier who sells them out of a truck across from the Anderson Dairy, where vendors pick up their ice cream products.
Police say the sale of the toy guns is not only illegal, but dangerous.
There have been instances where police have shot someone carrying a toy gun, not knowing the gun was a fake.
