Brief: Revenue surges for LV auto dealer, trash hauler

Net income rose to $179.7 million, or 38 cents a share, from $122.1 million, or 28 cents, before income from discontinued operations in the year-earlier quarter. Revenue rose 67 percent to $4.9 billion from $2.9 billion.
Republic also owns 64 percent of the waste unit, Republic Services, following the unit's $1.44 billion initial public offering of 36 percent of the shares on July 7. Republic Services owns Silver State Disposal in Las Vegas.
