MICHIGAN K-WINGS 2, LAS VEGAS THUNDER 1 (SO)
LAS VEGAS -- Marty Flichel scored the lone goal of a five-round shootout to give the Michigan K-Wings (3-4-0) a 2-1 win over the Las Vegas Thunder (2-4-1) Saturday before 5,218 at the Thomas & Mack Center. The win snapped a four-game Michigan losing streak, and moved the K-Wings into first place in the Central Division past Cleveland and Indianapolis, both of whom lost Saturday night. Jamie Wright's power play goal gave Michigan a 1-0 lead 15:47 into the game. The Thunder's Louie Debrusk equalized at 6:09 of the second, also on a power play. Mike Bales turned in a strong 35-save performance to take the win. The Thunder's Konstantin Simchuk stopped 25 of 26.

LAS VEGAS--Las Vegas Thunder goalie Scott Langkow made 37 saves to post his first IHL shutout, 2-0 over the Michigan K-Wings Friday in front of 4,107 at the Thomas & Mack Center. Alexi Vasilyev snapped a scoreless tie at 6:37 of the third period to seal the win. Stefan Ustdorf, making his first appearance since being sidelined with a concussion on the Thunder's opening night, popped the insurance goal into an empty net with 53 seconds to play. Michigan netminder Mike Bales faced 35 shots and made 33 saves. The win was the Thunder's second of the season, against four losses. Michigan's record falls to 2-4-0.

CINCINNATI CYCLONES 5, KANSAS CITY BLADES 1
CINCINNATI--Five different players scored as the Cincinnati Cyclones handed the Kansas City Blades (1-7-0) their fifth straight loss, 5-1 Saturday in front of 5,672 at The Crown. The Cyclones lead the Northeast Division with a record of 5-2-0. Cincinnati took control of the game in the opening period with goals by Eric Dandenault and Chris Joseph. A run of penalties sealed the Blades' fate. Todd Simon gave the Cyclones a 3-1 lead with seconds remaining in the second period, while Jean-Guy Trudel was off the ice for high sticking. KC's Jason Cirone was whistled for elbowing immediately after Simon's goal, and Pat McLeod capitalized with a goal 30 seconds into the final period. Kirk Nielsen capped the Cincinnati scoring at 10:58 of the third. Ryan Mulhern accounted for the lone Blades goal, a power play tally 7:09 into the second period. Cincinnati goalie Frederick Cassivi picked off 33 of 34 Kansas City shots to post the win.
LONG BEACH ICE DOGS 4, DETROIT VIPERS 3 (SO)
AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--Patrick Augusta scored twice in the second period and again in the shootout to help the Long Beach Ice Dogs (7-2-0) edge the Detroit Vipers (3-1-1) 4-3 Saturday at The Palace. Patrick Stefan scored the deciding shootout goal. Dan Lambert also scored in the tiebreaker. The Ice Dogs trailed 2-0 early in the second period, but Augusta tied the score with goals at 2:58 and 15:08. The Vipers surged ahead on Mike Prokopec's goal 4:11 into the final stanza, but defenseman Mark Ferner kept Long Beach in the game by scoring at 6:54. The Vipers pounded Long Beach goalie Sergei Naumov with 39 shots in regulation. Naumov finished with 36 saves, and held Detroit to a single goal in the shootout. Losing goalie Kevin Weekes faced only 15 shots, and made 12 saves.
HOUSTON AEROS 5, GRAND RAPIDS GRIFFINS 2 GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--Sean Pronger had two goals and an assist to lead the Houston Aeros (6-2-0) to a 5-2 comeback win over the Grand Rapids Griffins (2-3-1) Saturday before 9,515 at Van Andel Arena. Pronger's second goal, at 12:28 of the second period, was the game-winner. His three-point performance ties him with teammate Brian Wiseman for the IHL scoring lead. Wiseman recorded a pair of assists, giving him a league-high nine on the season. The Griffins seized the early momentum with first period goals by Anders Bjork and Bruce Coles. Bjork scored on a 5-4 power play at 12:55. Coles' tally, at 14:08, was his first goal as a professional. The Griffins have scored half of their 20 goals in the first period. Cam Stewart and Pronger tied the score before the first intermission. Mark Freer and Brian Sullivan put the game out of reach in the third period. Goalie Manny Fernandez posted the win by stopping 20 of the Griffins' 22 shots. Ian Gordon saved 26 of 30 for Grand Rapids.
MANITOBA MOOSE 3, INDIANAPOLIS ICE 2 INDIANAPOLIS--Power play goals by Bill Bowler and Jason MacDonald pushed the Manitoba Moose (4-1-1) past the Central Division-leading Indianapolis Ice (2-2-1) 3-2 Saturday night in front of 3,727 at the Pepsi Coliseum. The Moose never trailed in the game. Scott Arneil put Manitoba in front at 9:20 of the first period, with his second goal of the season. Ice goalie Kirk Daubenspeck smothered 13 Manitoba shots to keep the second half scoreless, but was left at a disadvantage after winger Brian Noonan was whistled for interference in the final minute of the period. Bowler beat the Ice's penalty-killing unit 1:11 after the intermission. MacDonald put away the game-winner at 9:06, while Dale DeGray was off the ice for interference. The Ice rallied with late goals by Sylvain Cloutier and Chris Herperger. Rob Stauber faced 21 shots in the Manitoba goal, making 19 saves. Daubenspeck finished with 29 saves.
CHICAGO WOLVES 3, UTAH GRIZZLIES 2 (SO) ROSEMONT, Ill.--The Chicago Wolves (4-1-2) scored on three of five shootout chances to snatch a 3-2 decision from the Utah Grizzlies (3-3-1) Saturday before 7,110 at the Rosemont Horizon. James Black, who scored four goals in his first two games with the Wolves, won the game in the fifth shootout round. The teams traded goals in regulation, starting with Chris Marinucci's third of the season for the Wolves. Utah's John Purves extended his point-scoring streak to seven games with the equalizer 2:36 into the second period, but the Wolves surged back into the lead with Dan Plante's second of the season. Yan Kaminsky forced the tiebreaker with a power play goal at 6:40 of the final period. The Wolves outshot Utah 43-30. Winning goalie Pat Jablonski made 26 saves, while Utah's Petr Franck stopped 41.
ORLANDO SOLAR BEARS 4, MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS 1 MILWAUKEE--Kirby Law scored two of his three goals in the third period to help the Orlando Solar Bears (4-2-0) hand the Milwaukee Admirals their first regulation loss of the season, 4-1 in front of a Saturday night crowd of 6,227 at the Bradley Center. Solar Bears netminder David Littman stopped 38 of 39 Milwaukee shots to preserve the win. Law snapped a scoreless tie 17:34 into the second period, with the first of his two power play goals. Jason Cipolla equalized early in the third period, but Law and Clayton Norris scored within a 1:11 span to put the game away. Todd Krygier assisted on three Solar Bears goals. Orlando posted the win on only 16 shots, 12 of which were stopped by Admirals goalie Chris Mason.
FORT WAYNE KOMETS 7, CLEVELAND LUMBERJACKS 2
FORT WAYNE, Ind.--Ian Boyce led the way with two goals and an assist as the Fort Wayne Komets (2-2-1) defeated the Cleveland Lumberjacks (2-3-1) 7-2 Saturday before 6,494 at Memorial Coliseum. Three of the Komets' goals, including both by Boyce and the final tally of the game, by Eric Boguneicki, came on power plays. First-period goals by Andrei Roy, Tero Lehtera and Oleg Shargorodski, put the Komets in control of the game for good. Shargorodski also finished with a pair of assists, and Brad Purdie helped set up three Fort Wayne tallies. The Lumberjacks, who had won seven straight regular season contests against the Komets coming into Saturday's game, scored on power plays in the first and third periods. Jason Ruff and Jesse Belanger netted the goals, both with assists from Brett Harkins. Goalie Bruce Racine faced 22 shots and made 20 saves to post the win. Cleveland's Derek Wilkinson stopped 28 of 35.

CINCINNATI CYCLONES 5, MANITOBA MOOSE 4 (SO)
CINCINNATI--The Cincinnati Cyclones (4-2-0) rallied to tie the score with two goals in the third period, then held on for a 5-4 shootout win over the Manitoba Moose (3-1-1) Friday in front of 4,347 at The Crown. Todd Simon and Don Biggs scored the decisive shootout goals, while Cyclones goalie Geoff Sarjeant turned away four straight Manitoba attempts. The Cyclones led 1-0 at the end of one period, after Scott Morrow scored the first of his two goals 17:47 into the game. The second period belonged to the Moose, who reeled off four goals. Defenseman Brian Chapman started the barrage at the 3:10 mark. Ralph Intranuovo gave the Moose a 2-1 lead at 9:45. Scott Arneil assisted on Manitoba's final two goals, by Brett Hauer at 14:23 and Scott Thomas at 19:26. Manitoba appeared in control through the midpoint of the third period, but a roughing penalty on Stewart at 11:54 let the Cyclones back into the game. Jeff Shevalier's power play goal at 13:33 pulled Cincinnati within a goal, and Chris Joseph tied the score 1:01 later. Sarjeant faced 33 shots in regulation, making 29 saves. Christian Bronsard, who entered the game with a league-best .949 save percentage, stopped 31 of 35 in regulation, but was replaced by Rob Stauber for the shootout.
DETROIT VIPERS 7, HOUSTON AEROS 4
AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--The Detroit Vipers (3-1-0) exploded for five third-period goals to defeat the Houston Aeros 7-4 Friday night. A crowd of 10,784 was on hand at The Palace. The Aeros, who have amassed a 5-2-0 record without yet playing a home game and occupy four of the top five spots on the league scoring chart, snapped a scoreless tie with two quick goals in the second period. Rob Valisevic beat the league's second most effective penalty killing unit 10:06 into the period, and Sean Pronger added a second power play goal at 16:48. The Vipers mounted a late rally, tying the score with goals by John Gruden at 17:38 and Brian Felsner at 19:22. After falling behind on the first of Mark Lamb's two third-period goals, the Vipers took control with goals by Stan Drulia, Steve Walker and Yves Sarault, all within a 1:48 span. Tim Murray and Brad Shaw capped the Vipers' scoring. Shaw, Steve Martins, Peter Ciavaglia and Walker each had two assists in the final period. Jani Hurme picked up the win in goal, with 22 saves on 26 Houston shots. Frederic Chabot stopped 24 of 31 in the losing effort.
LONG BEACH ICE DOGS 5, GRAND RAPIDS GRIFFINS 4
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--Patrick Stefan scored at 19:15 of the second period to push the Long Beach Ice Dogs (6-2-0) past the Grand Rapids Griffins (2-2-1) 5-4 Friday before 9,112 at Van Andel Arena. Stefan finished with a goal and two assists for the Ice Dogs, as did Patrik Augusta. Claude Jutras put Long Beach on the board 3:38 into the game. Team scoring leader Dan Lambert netted his fifth of the season at :56 of the second, and Frederick Jobin also scored in the second. Goals by Robert Petrovicky and Maxim Spiridonov kept the Griffins even through the first period. Anders Bjork and Danton Cole scored in the second. Winning goalie Trevor Koening fended off 32 Grand Rapids shots and made 28 saves. Neil Little stopped 22 of 27 for the Griffins.
CHICAGO WOLVES 2, INDIANAPOLIS ICE 1
ROSEMONT, Ill.--James Black scored both goals as the Chicago Wolves (3-1-2) edged the Indianapolis Ice (2-1-1) 2-1 Friday before 6,031 at The Horizon. Black has four goals in two games since joining the Wolves earlier this week. Black was the first player this season to beat the Ice penalty-killing unit, scoring on a power play 4:45 into the game. The winning goal came at 4:52 of the third period. Defenseman Brian Fogarty scored the lone Indianapolis goal. Glenn Healy faced 28 shots in goal for the Wolves, and made 27 saves to preserve the win. Kirk Daubenspeck stopped 31 of 32 as the Ice suffered their first regulation loss of the season.
UTAH GRIZZLIES 4, KANSAS CITY BLADES 1
KANSAS CITY--NHL holdouts Scott Niedermeyer and Anson Carter both played a role in the Utah Grizzlies' 4-1 win over the Kansas City Blades Friday night at Kemper Arena. Niedermeyer had the second assist on Mick Vukota's game-winning power play goal 18:29 into the second period, and Carter, who is mired in a contract dispute with the Boston Bruins, scored early in the third period. A power play goal in the second period by defenseman Nick Naumenko brought the Grizzlies back from one goal down. Dave Archibald netted his first of the season for Utah at 13:35 of the third period. Kansas City's Dody Wood had the only goal of the opening period. The Blades averaged a league-high 36 shots per game coming into Friday's contest, and hammered Grizzlies netminder Petr Franck with 47 shots. Franck, who got the start after Ryan Bach was traded to the NHL's L.A. Kings, made 46 saves, while KC's Patrick Lalime stopped 31 of 35 attempts.
