Brief: Profits up 37.7 percent for home builder

The Phoenix-based builder of Nevada's Sun City properties today reported net earnings of $8.4 million or 45 cents per share for the quarter compared with $6.1 million or 34 cents a year ago. Revenues rose 8.3 percent to $268.6 million.
The company's Nevada Sun City properties at Summerlin, MacDonald Ranch and Anthem, which has its grand opening on Saturday, had 301 new order for the the quarter, the largest number of any Del Webb division.
"Our transition from Summerlin to Anthem is progressing very smoothly," said Del Webb Chief Executive Phil Dion.
